Being a new mom, this campaign really struck a cord… This month, CFDA President and fashion designer, Diane Von Furstenberg, e-tailer Shopbop and Vogue Magazine launched BORNFREE, a campaign to eradicate the transmission of HIV from mother to baby by 2015. The campaign brings together powerful female designers (and mothers) including Donna Karan, Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch, Sarah Burton, Miuccia Prada, Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney, and Donatella Versace, to create a collection of women and children’s clothing and accessories, all available exclusively on Shopbop.com this spring. Each piece will incorporate BORNFREE commissioned Kenyan artist, Wangechi Mutu’s two designs. To ensure successful results, 100 percent of the proceeds will go directly to sub-Saharan countries that need the funds the most.
